Empowering Teachers to Better Support their Learners!

As educators, we have a responsibility to accommodate every learning style, ensure the quality of our teaching material and equip students with the skills to navigate digital spaces effectively.

The use of technology can unlock limitless potential in the classroom, and the best way to know how to harness that power is by undertaking an Educator Capability Licence: designed for teachers by teachers.

What is an Educator Capability Licence?

An Educator Capability Licence (ECL) is a series of online training modules or microcredentials designed to help practitioners strengthen their teaching, learning and assessment. As well as basic digital fluency, the ECL has a strong focus on enhancing the student experience through the use of great pedagogy supported by digital technology.

Educator Capability Licence Framework

Obtaining an Educator Capability Licence requires you to progress through three levels of competence that have been adapted for an Australian audience from the European Framework for Digital Competence of Educators: exploring, adopting and leading.

This framework provides a structure for practitioners to understand how technology can be used to enrich teaching and training, as well as a pathway for an educator’s own development, career progression and future prospects.

Each level of the Educator Capability Licence is divided into a number of focus areas, with the learning objectives and inclusions being:

  • Planning your Teaching - Making use of technology to better plan teaching and learning.

  • Approaches to Teaching - Utilising resources to engage learners in face-to-face, online and blended learning.

  • Supporting Learners to Develop Employability Skills - Improving future prospects for your learners through the use of digital technology.

  • Subject and Industry-Specific Teaching - Developing your subject knowledge as well as business and industry awareness as part of your continuing professional development (CPD).

  • Assessment - Improving assessment and giving more comprehensive feedback through the use of digital technology.

  • Accessibility and Inclusion - Ensuring all learners have equitable access to and can make full use of digital technology.

  • Self Development - Practical strategies for keeping up to date utilising technology as a tool for subject areas and teaching practices.
